The Long Beds: News

In case you were making the drive and planning to get tickets at the door, we're told that tonight's Long Beds show at the Mabel Tainter is sold out, no more tickets available.

Over at the Sawyer County Record, they've posted a snippet of our Park Theater performance. The page sometimes loads a little funny, yer lookin' for the gray "Play" triangle. The music starts about halfway through.

A real nice review of the Headwinded album here. Nice to see Billy Krause get credit. I provide the words and a handful of chords...the musicians who record and play with me (here's to you, Justin Vernon and a bunch of Long Beds) make it twangful and sweet. Mostly I'm just Britney in cheap 32/32 jeans. 34/32, if I've been hittin' the donuts.

After having to cancel the original show for a family funeral, I'm happy to say we've been rescheduled to play at the very cool Phoenix Park in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on August 30.

I will be attending a funeral Thursday, and as such my band and I will not be able to perform at Phoenix Park as scheduled. My seven-year-old daughter documented the solo show I played at the Red Barn in Washington Island. I've posted the photos in the "live shots" section of the photo gallery.

"If They Give You Wings" is a song I wrote about my memories of attending a church service in the middle of a wheat field in Chugwater, Wyoming. The story is in the last essay of the book "Off Main Street".

I wrote the song "I Never Knew" in honor of my brother Jed and in memory of his wife Sarah. Over on the Listen page we've just uploaded the studio version, with production, beautiful harmonies, and a dobro solo all supplied by my friend Andy Dee. (The version on "Headwinded"
was recorded live in one take, thus the creaking chair.)
